Biography

Chelsea Basler, soprano, is originally from San Diego, CA.  Chelsea found her start in music while performing in a small community theater company.  At the age of 13 she became involved in the San Diego Opera where she instantly fell in love with the operatic art form.  Chelsea was most recently seen performing with the Ohio Light Opera Company in the roles of Laoula in L'étoile and Margot in The Desert Song.  Chelsea attended the New England Conservatory, where she completed a bachelor's of music degree in vocal performance with a concentration in education.  While at the Conservatory she was deeply involved in the New England Conservatory Light Opera Company and has sung many roles ranging from Lola in Gallantry to Lilly in The Secret Garden.  As a member of the Conservatory's women's chorus and concert choir, she performed a verity of works such as Brahm's Requiem and Bethoveen's Mass.  In the summer of 2007, Chelsea was involved with Opera in the Ozarks in Eureka Springs, AK.  There she sang Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and Helena in Hin und zurück.  During its 2007-08 season, Chelsea was featured in a series of arias for Lakes Region Opera Company's Opera at the Café.  She maintains an active performance schedule in New England, which included solo appearances with the Clear Lakes Chorale in Bach's Magnificat and Handel's Messiah.  Other summer program appearances include the Opera Festival di Lucca and Bay Area Opera Theater Institute.  At the Institute she performed Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro.  Chelsea is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in vocal performance with a concentration in opera from Boston University.
