Soprano Chelsea Basler maintains an active performance schedule as a featured soloist in opera, operetta, and oratorio. Chelsea is a recent alumni of the Boston University Opera Institute where she sang the role of Cora in Stephen Paulus' The Postman Always Rings Twice and Juliette in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette. While at Boston University, Ms. Basler appeared as Susannah (Susannah), Fiordiligi (Così fan Tutte), Antigone (Antigone), Girl (Trouble in Tahiti), and Suzanne Michaud (Therese Raquin).Ms. Basler was heard last summer at the Ohio Light Opera Company singing Sylva in Gypsy Princess and Marshina in Kismet. Past credits with OLO include Laula (L’Etoile), Margot (Desert Song), Helene (La Belle Helene) and Annina (A Night in Venice).

Other opera roles on Ms. Basler's resume include Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and Helena (Hin und Zurück) with Opera in the Ozarks, Lucy (The Telephone) with Opera New Hampshire, First Knitter (A Game of Chance) and Lola (Gallantry) with New England Conservatory Light Opera, Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) with BASOTI, Novizia (Suor Angelica) with the Lucca Opera Festival in Italy, and Anica (The Conquistador) with San Diego Opera.   

Ms. Basler won first place in the 2011 Peter Elvins Vocal Competition. She was a 2011 winner of the Kahn Career Entry Award at Boston University. She was selected as finalist in the Charles Lyman Vocal Competition in 2007.

She also appears in Victor Herbert: Mlle Modiste (DVD, Operetta Foundation, OA 1020, 2009.

Originally from San Diego, Chelsea holds a master’s degree and artist certificate in vocal performance from Boston University, where she studies with Jerrold Pope. Chelsea completed a bachelor's of music degree in vocal performance with a concentration in education at New England Conservatory.
